Title Mill House, North Street
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2020

Abstract/Summary

The proposed site is approximately 33m x 37m in area, and is almost rectangular, the longer axis being aligned almost north-south. The site is located 565m to the south-west of York Minster, and 89m to the west of the western bank of the River Ouse. The desk-based study suggests has shown that the site has the potential for survival of remains dating from the Roman period onwards. Other sites in the area have yielded exceptionally well-preserved organic remains, with those of Roman date being nationally important. The site therefore has a high potential for waterlogged deposits of considerable archaeological importance
