Abstract/Summary
Watching brief during ground reduction for a proposed dwelling. Underlying geology was exposed from a depth of approximately 0.05m below ground level (BGL) and excavated to a maximum depth of 0.20m BGL.
No archaeological deposits were observed during the watching brief, possibly as a result of
extensive truncation during the 19th century development of the area. Alternatively, the absence of
any archaeological remains may be a result of the area being in use as open fields from the Roman
period until the construction works of the 19th century.
