York Historic Environment Record

An archaeological desk-based study (DBA) at Foss Islands Road, York. The work was undertaken to inform the LPA on the archaeological impact of redeveloping the site, prior to the submission of a planning application. The DBA indicates that the site was probably primarily used for agricultural purposes prior to the 19th century, with no clear evidence of structures or artefacts of Roman to post-medieval date being present. Buildings relating to the Foss Islands Railway Branch are extant on the site.
