Abstract/Summary

The watching brief identified five pit like features and these were further investigated. The pits revealed themselves to be of a very shallow depth and contained a small number of fragments of pottery and ceramic building material. The artefactual evidence comprised a mixed assemblage with fragments dating from the medieval period through to the 20th century. The character of the features and the mixed content of the artefactual evidence suggests an area of ground depressions that were backfilled with residual materials during 20th century garden landscaping. No archaeological features were present within the area of the watching brief.
