1 Peckitt Street is a Grade II listed building of architectural and historic interest. There is a requirement for the archaeological monitoring of any intrusive groundworks. York Archaeology was commissioned by O’Connor Utilities to undertake an archaeological watching brief at 1 Peckitt Street. The groundworks comprised the excavation of a trench to install a new fibre optics cable. The natural geology was not reached during the watching brief programme. No archaeological features or finds were found. A series of modern services were encountered during the watching brief. A single deposit of homogenous dark grey sandy silt was encountered at 1 Peckitt Street.
