Title 32 Coney St
Author/Originator
Date/Year

Abstract/Summary

32 Coney Street is located within the York Central Historic Core Conservation Area and situated on one of the premier high streets in York. This Heritage Statement has been prepared in support of a combined Listed Building Consent and Planning Application for 32 Coney Street. This statement follows the guidance afforded by Historic England’s Advice Note 12: Statements of Heritage Significance: Analysing Significance in Heritage and the National Planning Policy Framework. This assessment excludes second and third floors as there are no alterations proposed on these floors and hence no historic fabric is lost. The proposed work includes removal of existing partition walls on the ground floor and removal of existing rear door to replace it with an appropriate glazed door. Proposals on the ground floor claim to enhance the communal and aesthetic value without harming the historic structure. The front room on the first floor is the proposed location for an office. The historic cornicing remains exposed, and the room receives appropriate material updates. These proposals have a neutral impact on significance as no structural changes are being proposed, although a minor positive impact from the material updates, repairs and sensitive reuse of the room.
