York Historic Environment Record

This document is an archaeological desk-based study of the north-eastern part of the estate of The Retreat mental hospital, York. The study provides an assessment of the potential character, date, extent and state of preservation of any archaeological remains on the site based on the evidence for the archaeology and history of the site itself and of its immediate area. The result of the study shows that the extensive archaeological remains survive on that part of the site, but were not examined.
