Abstract/Summary
York Archaeology conducted a watching brief on behalf of Northern Powergrid on 7th February 2023 at Bishopthorpe Road Carpark and St Benedict Road. The objective of the watching brief was to record any archaeological deposits or structures exposed by the ground works required for cable installation prior to the construction of EV chargers. No significant archaeological deposits were uncovered within any of the three trial slots. The only recorded deposits were of probable 19th century date or later. These most likely dated to the construction of nearby terraced housing along St Benedicts Road.
