An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by On-Site Archaeology Ltd at Orchard Cottage, Moor Lane, Bishopthorpe, York during the construction of a two-storey side extension. The watching brief reveal a limestone drain and associated isolated limestone block, that are most likely associated with the earlier configuration of the property during the mid-19th century as a farmstead. No archaeological features or deposits associated with the possible surrounding prehistoric or Roman field system were detected.
