Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was carried out on trenching associated with the drainage for a new dining hall at St. Peter’s School in York. This included a large rectangular trench to a house a new attenuation tank and two connecting trenches to link this into existing site drainage. This was completed without disturbance to archaeological features or deposits. The replacement dining hall was constructed upon a shallow slab foundation. Due to the limited impact of this slab, in light of the results of the evaluation trenches and the attenuation tank excavation, the excavation for the new slab was not monitored. Report also contains negative results of evaluation on the other side of the dining hall.
