Abstract/Summary
Monitoring of geotechnical works at the site of Willow House, Long Close Lane. These works were undertaken in October 2024 to inform a forthcoming planning application. In total, one machine-excavated test pit, one infiltration pit, five window samples and three boreholes were excavated and recorded. Three of the window samples were duplicated due to their archaeological potential: WS 2A, WS3A and WS4A.
These observations have provided information that will advise the ongoing management of the archaeological resource, including a possible location for the graveyard soils associated with St Peter-Le-Willows Church known to have been previously in the area. It also showed a significant difference in depth of archaeology on the north and eastern side of site as opposed to the south western area of the propose development.
