Abstract/Summary

York Archaeology (YA) was commissioned by Solar2 to undertake a programme of Archaeological survey of ridge and furrow earthworks in advance of proposed construction of Hessay Solar Farm, Hessay, west of the City of York (NGR SE 5305 5255). The Archaeological Investigations comprised UAV Earthwork Survey of the surviving ridge and furrow earthworks to produce outputs to Historic England Level 2 standard (2017). Fieldwork was conducted on the 18th of September 2025. The archaeological works recorded the existing ridge and furrow earthworks and its separate visible components. UAV aerial photogrammetric survey has been used to produce a digital survey model of the earthworks from which plans and sections have been recorded.
