Title Archaeological Monitoring Report: IP2 Site-wide Trial Holes
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2025

Abstract/Summary

Archaeological monitoring took place during the excavation of various trial holes across the York Central development site during 2021, 2022 and 2023. The objective was to assess if any formal archaeological monitoring and/or recording was required as part of the Rapid Assessment Triage (TA) process on the York Central site. Monitoring was completed by the Lead Consultant Archaeologist (LCA) for Tetra Tech. Monitoring was suggested in some instances as initial TA completed by the LCA established that archaeological deposits may be encountered during the works. This process is ongoing, but a monitoring report has been produced to indicate the methodology employed as well as provide examples of where this has taken place. The scale of these works is minimal, and of ten linked with larger scale interventions, so otherwise there would be no record that their impact had been considered.
