Abstract/Summary

Archaeological monitoring took place during the mitigation excavation of hydrocarbon contamination hotspot S3, central sidings, January 2023. An approximately square-shaped area c.13m across was excavated to a depth of between 200 and 400mm BGL (12.20m aOD). A fragment of 19th century walling was identified as part of the carriage shed (MYO3742) that formerly stood in this area, along with disturbed deposits of 20th century date. No floors or other remains of the carriage shed were observed. No archaeological deposits of significance were encountered.
