Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was carried out by the York Archaeological Trust on the
former site of the Tenneco Factory, Manor Lane, Rawcliffe. This involved the observation of
service and foundation trenches, and roadways for a new housing development. Archaeology
on the site was represented by deposits thought to be associated with a pond containing
waterlogged deposits in which medieval pottery and two architectural fragments, at least one
of which may have been part of a stone Roman sarcophagus, were found. Two ditches of
unknown date were also recorded.
