Description

CONSTRUCTION WORK Found in 1821. Depth 9 feet. Possibly a paved road with kerbstones 0.30m deep, ran 'immediately under the homes on the west side of Micklegate.' Also a gravel bed with wrought stones forming 'compartments' (building?) Possibly part of main Roman road from the SW, with buildings fronting onto it.
