Description

Three trenches were excavated across the site all of which were machine cleared to the top of recognisable archaeological deposits. 0.50m was then hand excavated. The excavation has shown that the upper 1.2-2m of deposits on site were garden soils of little archaeological interest. The Roman remains in Trenches 1 and 2 were of interest, especially since they were undisturbed by later features, due to the tack of any form of later structural activity or pit digging. RCHME microfilm PRN 3274. YORAT site code 1992.12
