Description

An archaeological watching brief on the demolition of the former ambulance station has been carried out by the YAT. A number of burials relating to the graveyard of the medieval church of All Saints Peaseholme Green were observed. There were also a number of structural features (walls) which were built after the graveyard went out of use. In addition to the cemetery remains earlier medieval and possible Viking age deposits were observed. The burials and the walls were covered over with visqueen and left in-situ. The removal of the subterranean remians of the Ambulance Station revealed that the area inside the central building had been entirely cleared of archaeological deposits during construction.
