Monument record MYO3521 - Cemetery of All Saints Peaseholme Green

Summary

The site of the church was accurately located in excavations carried out by the York Archaeological Trust in 1984 prior to the construction of the Homeless Hostel in Peaseholme Green (EYO4205). Burials relating to graveyard have been found under the former Ambulance Station in Dundas Streeet (EYO4318 EYO4603). It is now clear that the area formerly occupied by the cemetery of All Saints became after 1584 the open space subsequently called the Haymarket. The extent of the cemetery as indicated by the monument polygon has therefore been plotted from the 1852 OS Plan.
