Description

Evaluation The pottery assemblage from this site was small and largely of late and post-medieval date. There is a very small amount of Roman pottery which spans the Roman period but always occurs with later material. There is nothing that relates to the following ten centuries. There is a small amount of Brandsby-type wares which are likely to be of 14th century date and then the typical late medieval wares (Humber, Hambleton, Cistercian wares) carry the sequence through to the post-medieval slipwares, earthenwares, Purple glazed wares, Black wares and Ryedale wares. There are no imported wares and the assemblage is typical of York at this period. As with the previous finds from this project, all the finds are likely to be post-medieval or modern, and the assemblage as a whole is not worthy of further study. NMR Microfilm Index; PRN:9393.
