Description
A watching brief was held over the refurbishment of 49 Monkgate, York. The work consisted of the lowering of the basement floor and the alteration of the garden area to the south-east of the property. No datable archaeological evidence was found on the site and it seems that the Victorian building programme has destroyed all, if any of the archaeological deposits
