Description

Excavations by S W Ward in 1824 simply showed that the mound was composed of earth containing many bones and covered timberwork. Exact location within the motte uncertain. NMR sources: Gentleman's Magazine 2/1824/584 Yorkshire Gazette /1.5.1824/
