Description

On 15th February 2021 York Archaeology Trust conducted an archaeological building recording at Oak Farm, Dunnington, York, on behalf of Vincent and Brown Ltd, in advance of the proposed renovation of a historic building. The historic building is sown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map issued in 1852 as part of Hagg Farm. The building is a two-storey brick-built range with a pitched roof covered with pan tiles. The building might have been erected in the mid- to late-18th century as a combination of stable and cow house with a hayloft above, although this had been subsequently substantially modified and renovated with modern fabrics. Nevertheless, it retains its original main construction fabrics, its plan-form and few primary fixtures and fittings.
