Full Description

Oak Farm is part of the original Hagg Farm which has since been divided to include Blue Bell Barn, Hagg Farmhouse and Oak Farm including Stable Cottage (converted).
Oak Farm complex comprises a series of single and two storey buildings forming traditional
agricultural open courtyards.

This building (Bloom House)was recorded ahead of conversion as it appeared on First Edition OS plan.

The building subject to the historic building recording comprises a two-storey range facing
onto Intake Lane with a later porch that contains an iron sign which reads ‘Bloom House’. The
range forms part of the northern wing of a U-plan courtyard within the northern area of Oak
Farm which is approached from a gate towards the north-east of the building.
The historic range is built with hand-made mottled brownish orangey bricks (8½” x 4½”x 2”)
bonded with whiteish lime mortar and laid to an irregular English Garden Wall bond. The
ground floor is accessed from two centrally placed inserted doorways within each side
elevations; and the first floor from a later external staircase whose structure encompasses a
small lavatory inside the stairwell. The historic building comprised a steep pitched roof
covered with pan tiles, verged by coping gables and it includes a dentilled cornice along the
side elevations, although these are partially obscured by possible later gutters.
See report for interior details.
