Description

Heritage statement and repair proposals by the Ancient Monuments Team at CYC. The issues detailed in the 2021 CMP remained unaddressed and have in the case of the external masonry and mortar visibly worsened to the extent that both bulging and joint separation are affecting the north-east side of the ice-house, and there is now a risk that part of the outer brick face could collapse. There are also several blown bricks and other areas where the mortar has deteriorated and requires replacement. Internally, the structure seems to be still sound but further inspection will be undertaken once the works are under way and it is safe to do so.
