Houses, Nos. 55, 56, and No. 30 Pavement, form a three-storey brick building, standing on a very shallow site, which may originally have formed three shops with living accommodation over but has been converted to a single shop with storage space. A rainwater head bears the initials T W possibly for Thomas Williams, documented in Pavement in 1798 (Directory), and 1796, probably the date of construction. The front to Fossgate, of six bays, has single hung-sash windows to four bays between triple windows in the end bays.
