Building record MYO27 - St Edward the Confessor Church

Summary

Parish church built 1847-9 by Vickers and Hugall of Pontefract. The vestry was enlarged in 1902, and the spire renewed in 1970. It is constructed from squared limestone, with green slate roofs and a fibreglass spire. The church has an aisleless nave, west bell turret, north porch, lower chancel, and south-east vestry. The stained glass was designed for the church by William Wailes, 1849. There is also a memorial window of 1932 to Mrs G Brierley by Bewsey.

Church of St. Edward the Confessor built in the Gothic style in 1847-9. The foundations of an earlier chapel built in 1725 can be seen northeast of the present church. (2)
