Summary

Until 1930 this was a school. During the last war it was an ambulance station and first aid centre. The Parish Council then purchased it and carried out various repairs before it became a community social hall and library.Nominated for inclusion on the local list of heritage assets.

Full Description

Built in 1865, the social hall was originally an extension to the old St Oswald's school. In the 1930's, the school moved to a new premises, and the social hall was a printing works. During WWII, the building became an ambulance station and a first aid centre. Fulford Parish Council bought the property after the war and used it as the village's library until 2006. Some alterations have been made to the social hall so it could accomodate a community space.
