Full Description

Stable Cottage and Somerset House are likely to be mid-19th century buildings, and the main house is depicted as a rectory on the 6’ scale Ordinance Survey Drawing number 192, of 1854 with various outbuildings, likely a coach house and stables, nearby. The Ordinance Survey map of 1910 and 1954, show that the L-shaped outbuilding had been demolished between 1854 and 1910 and the outbuildings have a wider part, where the current building of Stable Cottage is situated, to the southwest and narrow towards the northeast, suggesting the presence of a stable building. Subsequent maps show the development of Somerset House and its end of use as a rectory and the demolition of the narrow, stable like outbuildings.
