Abstract/Summary
Past to Present Archaeology Limited was commissioned by Country Court Care to undertake a historic building recording of Stable Cottage, Somerset House, Church Lane, Wheldrake, York, Yorkshire, as a condition of planning consent for demolition of an existing residence, erection of a new dwelling extending from the existing dwelling.
The building surveyed is a mid-19th Century, two storey, brick-built coach house. It has undergone previous demolition of part of the building during the 20th century and has also undergone alterations
and a conservatory extension during the 20th century to the exterior of the dwelling. It is considered that given the lack of surviving original historic features and frequent modern alterations, the building currently offers limited value to the Conservation Area.
