On 7th September 2015, York Archaeological Trust undertook a watching brief at Foss Farm, Temple Lane, Copmanthorpe, York. The objective was to record any deposits, features or buried structures exposed during works associated with the opening of two trenches for the concrete raft foundations of two stables beside Temple Lane. The works involved the observation of the turf stripping and topsoil removal over one of the two proposed stable blocks, with monitoring of the second stable block footprint required if any archaeological deposits were observed in the first. No artefacts were recovered and no samples were taken.
