Abstract/Summary
A watching brief was undertaken on a new services trench in an alley located just outside the city walls adjacent to Monk Bar, York. The area lies within an Area of Archaeological
Importance. The watching brief was undertaken on 24-26/2/2016.
All of the deposits observed during the watching brief clearly post dated 1750, and most were of
modern date relating to the insertion of services for the various buildings in the area. Nothing of
archaeological interest was observed.
