Title Punch Bowl
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2022

Abstract/Summary

The site is located on the corner of Blossom Street and Nunnery Lane, York. The Heritage Statement of Punch Bowl has been completed by Humble Heritage Ltd, on behalf of the owner and applicant. This work showcases the heritage implications of the proposed works at the site which includes demolition of the fire escape and the two single storey rear extensions, extension of rear single storey with roof terrace, making it a rear two storey building, and replacement of kitchen extract. Furthermore, it proposes some external and internal alterations to the main building. This report has identified the heritage significance of the site, which it finds to be generally high for the 19th century fabric – which survives most intact at the street front facades and within the first and second floor of the 1863 building. This report concludes that the proposals would result in negligible visible changes when observed from public viewpoints in the conservation area or from the city walls due to intervening buildings.
