Due to the site’s location, the granted planning permission came with an attached condition for an archaeological watching brief. No archaeological deposits were observed during the excavation of the utility trench. The stratigraphic matrix was dated to the late 19th to early 20th century. It consisted of topsoil and made ground relating to extension works associated with the hotel.
