Description
Cores taken from old ford area, which is now a modern playing field. Chas Jones believes there were originally three streams that joined the beck in this area, and that the mixed building debris was dumped to create a level surface causing the old streams to now run in culverts. The aim of his study was to find the shape of the ford and locate the rivers and streams that met at this location.
The underlying shape of this fording area seems to contain dense clay at its base and some traces of alluvial material. Samples taken could suggest that there were flat stones above the base.
