Description

The future of the cobbled road has been the subject of discussion over the last three years. The surface is unstable and deteriorating. As an aid to the discussions a desktop survey was produced by the writer in August 2014. This detailed the known history of the road and adjacent precinct. To help the decision-making process percolation tests needed to be carried out to determine the porosity of the underlying strata. This entailed the digging of three 40x40x40cm holes spaced at wide intervals. All three holes were set square to the park wall on the western edge of the road
