Formerly the Church of St. John the Evangelist, the Arts Centre, now a bar. The church is of stone with the earliest fabric dating to the 12th century with 16th century repairs in brick with a timber-framed belfry.

English Civil War: An extra-mural defense work with earth works (sconce) was erected on the Mount, previously called St. James' Hill. The earthwork appears to have been completely destroyed by post 17th century development.
